Welcome to our Missions Page
Latest from Uganda
February 9th, 2010 - (Via Crystal Carter) Jackie just called.
They are doing well. They finished at the clinic for the day and
100 people got saved today.
February 10th, 2012 - (Via Crystal Carter) Glynda just called, they are
all doing well. She said they will be going to a prison tomorrow
with 900 inmates to share the gospel and conduct a medical
clinic. She asks that everyone pray for them while they are there
(or before you go to bed tonight, since they are 8 hours ahead of
us). They are a little nervous about going.
Salmon Frenzy 2012...It is all about SERVING
The Alaskan residents as they come to the mouth of the Kenai River and
dip net salmon. Maybe you would like to serve by doing construction
work for folks around the town. See JP or Kathy Smith if you are
interested in this mission project or if you have any questions.
Apple Butter Making Virgina Beach

Praise GOD! This mission trip to Virginia Beach has been a true
blessing, not just for me but many others as well. I
beleive the whole church will benefit from it. Our group of 14
brought back a fire that we hope will soon catch on with many
others.
I would like to share with you a brief description of our trip.
We went to share the love of Jesus Christ with over 1,000 homes in the
Indian Lakes District of Va. Beach. We went door to door passing
out information on True Course Community Church and to invite them all
to come out to get free apple butter. We began making this tasty
treat on Saturday morning. We were able to talk with many as they
passed by. This time was also spent building our own
relationships with each other. We were able to encourage Pastor
Bert Kirk and his church with our support and help. Some of the
time I personally sat back and watched the growth of others and how far
they have come in their walk with Christ. This group of men and
women are warriors for Chirst. I felt a love from all that only
Jesus could instill in us. Thank you so much for your prayers and
thank GOD for the opportunity to work beside such great people. I
would encourage everyone to serve, in some way, in your own
community. You will learn so much. Just be available and
GOD will do the rest.

Dear Partners,
This past Tuesday we were able to witness a very special
occasion. The USS Mesa Verde was returning home from the longest
naval deployment in 40 years. The ship and its crew had been gone
for 321 days! As you can imagine, there were many families
eagerly waiting for the ship to dock. (I've attached a picture of
the America flag flying from the ship's bow, which means it's
officially home.) LuAnn and I were there with our neighbor
and her 14 month old daughter, neither of whom had seen her husband in
321 days. What a joyous sight to see them finally reunited after
such a long time! We rejoiced with them as the daughter went
straight to her father without any hesitation! Makes
me imagine what a joyous reunion we will have when we step into the
Lord's presence in heaven! (Rev. 21:1-7)
TIGER Cruise
You might wonder where Emily was while we
waited for the ship to dock? She was actually on the USS
Mesa Verde as part of their TIGER Cruise. She and our neighbor's
older daughter rode a bus to Morehead City, NC, got on the ship, and
then traveled with them on the last leg of their long journey.
She got to experience Navy life for a couple of days, even getting a
little seasick. However, she had a great time and we are so
thankful she got to have this experience. In fact, I'm more than
a little jealous, because I would have loved to have gone
myself!! (I've attached a picture of the ship and she is
standing behind the men who are "manning" the rails underneath the
crane.)
We've had the privilege these past 10 months to minister to this
family, and we ask you to pray for them as they adjust to being
together again. Pray for us to continue to have opportunities to
minister to them and other military families.
Courageous
We will be showing the movie Courageous, which has a very positive
message for men. If you haven't heard about this movie, it was
produced by the same group which did Fireproof and Facing the
Giants, and what's amazing about this group is they are out of
Sherwood Baptist Church in Georgia. We currently have a
men's Bible study that meets on Saturday mornings at the local Hardees,
and our next study will be based on the message of the
movie. Pray we will have a good turnout for the movie and
an even better followup with the men's Bible Study.
Gratitude
We are so thankful for the many prayers and the financial support we
have received. Without them, we could not make it. I ask
you to join me in praying for each person who receives this
e-mail. Even though many of you do not know each other, our
heavenly Father sees the connection we have through this ministry, and
our desire is to share His blessings with you all.
Wisdom
We continue to minister in the field which God has laid before us, but
at times there seems to be very little fruit. While we are seeing
spiritual growth continue to take place, our outreach efforts have not
brought in new attenders. We did a free bread outreach right
after Christmas, and while we got to share God's love verbally and
materially, and we received lots of positive feedback, we have yet to
see any guests as a result. Pray for us to have wisdom
about the future ministry of True Course Community Church.
Strength
Pray for us to have strength. LuAnn and I are currently working
at Liberty Tax. Just as I did last year, I am preparing taxes,
and LuAnn is working from home making marketing and follow-up calls for
the franchise. While this does not sound like strenuous work, I
am actually more fatigued after doing taxes than I ever was doing the
construction job I had last Fall. Pray for us to have
strength and to be able to juggle work, home, and church. Pray
for the additional finances we need at this time.
We love you all! Thanks again for your prayers and support.
Love,
Bert & LuAnn
