The Roman Road of Salvation
You are not here by accident! God has a
purpose for your life, and that purpose is for you to spend eternity
with Him in a joyful love relationship.
For God so
loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
John 3:16
However, you have a major problem! This problem keeps you from
experiencing this wonderful love relationship. Though God is loving, He
is also holy which means He cannot ignore or condone your sin. Your sin
carries the penalty of spiritual separation from God, both in this life
and throughout eternity.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23
However, there is GOOD NEWS! God has provided a solution for your
problem. Because God loves you, He has provided a way to not only
condemn your sin but to forgive you at the same time. Jesus died in
your place receiving your punishment for your sins. He then defeated
death and the grave when He was later resurrected from the dead.
God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.
Titus 3:5
For it is by
grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can
boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
You must respond personally to God’s offer! You must personally accept
His forgiveness and establish a covenant relationship with Him through
faith in what God has done through Jesus Christ.
If you
confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with
your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your
mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10:9-10
You can respond through prayer and commitment to Jesus Christ! The
following words can be presented to God as a sincere expression of your
desire to establish a spiritual relationship with God through faith in
Jesus Christ.
Dear God, I
believe that your Son, Jesus, died on the cross and was raised from
death. Because I am a sinner, I need your forgiveness. Please forgive
me for all my sin and come into my life. Right now, I turn away from my
sinful life and acknowledge Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for
forgiving me and for giving to me the gift of eternal life. Thank you
for the abiding presence of your Holy Spirit in my life. Amen
