David Janney

Senior Pastor

After pastoring for 25 years in a large church in Northern Virginia, I felt God calling me to His “new thing.” My family and I moved to Smith Mountain Lake to serve at PBC in October 2020.

Pam, the love of my life, and I were married in 1988. We have three awesome adult children the Lord has blessed us with–Josh, Jon, and Suzy. We want our lakefront home to be a place of restoration and blessing to everyone God brings into our lives.

I have undergraduate degrees in Bible and Piano, a Masters of Divinity from Denver Seminary and a Doctorate of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

I love people, piano, and playing any kind of board game. My favorite movie is anything that combines action and suspense. My favorite dessert: Let’s just say, I’ve never met a piece of pie or cake I didn’t like! I enjoy meeting people personally, and look forward to getting to know you better over lunch or a cup of coffee/tea.

Pastor of Student Ministries

After serving for 13 years as a Loadmaster in the United States Air Force, I responded to the long-time calling that God has always laid on my heart. Which first involved serving in various leadership capacities in a local Baptist church in Washington State, where I am from. However, the Lord had bigger plans, and my family and I moved to Virginia in May 2022.

My wife, Trisha, and I met online and we were quick to marry in 2008 after less than a year of knowing each other which included a deployment to the Middle East. God has seen fit to provide us with two wonderful children, Sydney and Hunter, who are both homeschooled.

My undergraduate degrees include Aviation Operations, Instructor of Military Technology and Science, and History. My graduate-level training includes a Master of  Arts in Theological Studies and Certification in Biblical Studies from Liberty University. Finally, I received my Doctor of Ministry with a cognate in spiritual formation from Liberty University.

My greatest joy is to meet new people and build meaningful relationships with them, backpacking, and working with my hands. I look forward to meeting you and learning how we can serve the Lord together.

Children's Ministry Director

My story is one not many can tell - I am blessed to be serving my church family in the very same church in which I was born and raised, baptized, and married! At the age of 16, I was baptized after accepting Christ as my Savior and was soon asked to help with the annual Children’s Christmas Cantata. It was then that I fell in love with ministering to children. For the past 30 years I have served in many capacities that lead me to being Children's Director at PBC.

I married my high school sweetheart, Jason, at PBC in May 1997 and we have three children- daughter, Mikayla and sons Collin, and Colby. I love being able to worship with my family alongside so many other family members and friends at PBC. When I am not at the church or working as a LPTA (physical therapy), I enjoy just hanging out with family and friends as well as watching different levels of sports especially baseball, basketball, and football. I also enjoy a side hobby of capturing moments and memories through photography. God has truly blessed me so much!

Office Administrator

I have lived in Huddleston, VA all my life, matter of fact I have lived on the same road most of my life. My parents and grandparents attend(ed) PBC and were very active. I was raised here along with my sister and brother.

I graduated from Staunton River High School in 1991 and got my Associates Degree at Virginia Western Community College in Office Technology. I was studying to become a Medical Secretary but surprise…God had other plans.

My husband and I were married in 1996 here at PBC. He decided to go into business for himself in 2003. We have 2 grown children, Taylor and Drew.

I enjoy spending time with family & friends, time at the lake, and traveling. Mostly traveling…lol
